What and why is there a Parish Council precept?

The P.C. have certain statutory (defined in law) duties which cost money. This money is raised by a “Precept” being added to your Council Tax.

The P.C. have set the 2022/3 precept at £6000, the same as in 2021/2

Band D houses pay the most, Bands A, B, and C proportionally less. In 2022/3 A Band D property will pay 72p per week.

The P.C. spends much of their time raising money from grants to keep the precept as low as possible.

Over the last 3 years the P.C. has raised £27,000 in grants and is bidding for £6000 as we speak.  This means we will have raised nearly double the precept, in grants for the last 3 years.

We are already working with various local bodies to help them bid for grants and look forward to working with more groups in the future.
