Beach replenishment update
The sinker has been excavated, all cutting/welding work has been successfully completed and all the towing equipment prepared.
Unfortunately, we have suffered some delays with the planned launching. The tug boat has broken down so Van Oord are currently sourcing another. The sinker pipe is therefore sat on the beach whilst we wait. By the end of today the excavation will be fully reinstated and the beach levelled/smoothed. We have pushed sand to create a few temporary bridges over the sinker at beach access points. These will allow the public to walk over the sinker rather than needing to walk right around the end. The sinker pipe itself continues to be fully roped off to prevent public access.
We are awaiting final confirmation of a new tug but we hope to be able to carry out the launch on Saturday 14th September. Tidying of the beach will follow and demob of the equipment from Moggs Eye.
