LCC council tax increased by 5% total (incl 2% for Adult Social Care) – below inflation level.
LCC putting additional money into Highways (its 5000 miles of roads), and special projects. (Mostly out of Reserves).
The latest release of the Public Health Report is bleak and the LCC report ‘Communities on the Edge’ will be released on Wednesday this week.
The Gov have agreed that there must be a long term plan to ‘Level Up’ areas, with. For instance, Boston having 36% of its population existing with a below ‘living wage’.
The plan needs an injection of money to become effective, but the project needs to be carefully planned.
This year marks the 70 anniversary of the Great East Coast Flood. The Coastline has been kept safe from a recurrence since then by strengthening the defences, but this is expensive and there will be a time when the money runs out.
If a similar event happens today, it is estimated that the loss of life will be far greater because of people living in their static homes on the Coast all year round.
A flood event would put added burdens on the Rescue Services.
Having a large population using their caravans as permanent residences throughout the year is already putting Healthcare resources under severe pressure.
Pressure is to be applied to ELDC with a view to sorting this issue.
Car parking in Anderby Creek – new solar powered machines are to be installed in the very near future.
The National Grid proposals for their power lines etc due to be published soon. A Community Planning Alliance Group has been set up to fight the introduction of giant pylons throughout the area.

Discussion about how the Island should be planted. Request made that a palm tree be incorporated into the design as homage to the Palm Court Hotel which used to be where the new car park is. Need advice as to suitable plant as soil is shallow. Thoughts were to put the flagpole at one end, and the palm tree at the other.
Flag pole requested and approved.
Only £350 left from the grant for plants and benches – could the benches be repaired. Cllr Wood/Johnson to investigate.
Cllr Wood suggested Planters, the Island, and the new(free) hanging baskets from LCC should be populated with red, white and blue plants because of Coronation. Agreed – and seeds thought to be the cheapest way forward. (Sow in March). Cost of £60 authorised for purchase of seeds and bulbs.
