Cllr Davie:

The Devolution conversation is ongoing which will ultimately lead to a Mayoral Combined Authority and he/she will be our main contact with the Government.

Lincolnshire Castle has been named as in the top 20 of attractions in the UK.

Coastal sea defence funding still being discussed.

Costs are astronomical.

Beach nourishment not effective after 20 years. Need to make sea defences stronger now and major repairs needed.

People are only safe on the coast because of the sand replenishment, but the 2013 surge (greater than the 53 floods) were just held at bay and did not overtop.

Figures for coastal activity not yet back to pre-covid levels and trade is estimated at between 20-40% down and the next 6 weeks will be critical for local businesses.

The EA/ELDC/Lincoln University are all working together to plan this.

ELDC also examining the caravan sites on the coast and are considering effective ways of evacuating residents (particularly elderly ones).

The downloads for maps re walking in the area has reached 1 million hits.

Filming is on-going in Lincoln for the upcoming film about Napoleon, and in Chapel for a TV drama.

Congratulations to the Anderby Rocks Team. Fantastic job. No plans to expand the event as the Team do not think they would be able to manage anything bigger at this point.#

It does boost the local economy, esp camp sites etc.

The Bike rally was well attended but further growth is expected over the next few years.

  1. Reports from Councillors re external meetings

Met with Martin – originally Chapel Garden Centre offered to do the flower beds but had a subsequent change of heart. Woodthorpe Garden Centre have supplied the plants now and Martin has stepped down from his role.

  1. Feedback about future works etc on Sea Defences

Test drilling will commence shortly at Wolla Bank but the scale of improvements is enormous. Radar is already in place monitoring sand movements.

  1. Progress on Van Oord sponsorship talks

2 residents have already approached VO for money.

  1. Discussion about waste land opposite Roses.

A thank you to Rob Mills for strimming the waste area opposite Roses.
